Idris Elba, who is currently deep into production on the Stephen King epic ‘The Dark Tower,’ has reportedly set his sights on the British crime drama ‘Yardie’ for his directorial debut.

An adaptation of the Victor Headley novel of the same name, the story follows a young courier carrying cocaine from Jamaica to London, who decides to go it alone and who become a drug dealer on the mean streets of London.

Principal photography kicks off towards the end of the year, with ‘Bronson’ co-writer Brock Norman Brock shaping the script.

Elba will next be seen playing the big bad in ‘Star Trek Beyond’ when it lands in Irish cinemas July 22nd.
