It has been announced that ‘Ice Age’ helmer and Blue Sky Studios co-founder Chris Wedge is set to direct a CGI/live-action hybrid film based on Hasbro’s popular monster trucks toy line for Paramount Animation.
The studio is hoping the $100 million budget feature will “become a Transformers-like franchise,” and aims to have the film in production in the coming months with release set for summer 2015.
Lucas Till (‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’), Jane Levy (‘Evil Dead’), Amy Ryan (‘Birdman,’ ‘Devil’s Knot’), Thomas Lennon, Danny Glover, and Holt McCallany will star.
Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger (‘Kung Fu Panda,’ ‘Monsters vs. Aliens’) are providing the script, while Mary Parent (‘Godzilla,’ ‘Noah,’ ‘Pacific Rim,’ ‘The Kingdom’) is on board as producer.
