7. Bree Osbourne (Transamerica)
All in all, there are a lot less examples of actresses willing to take on these kinds of parts; well it can't be all that flattering to be cast as a woman who could conceivably be a man. Felicity Huffman thankfully is above all that kind of vanity and was outstanding as pre-op transsexual Bree Osbourne. A week before she goes in for surgery, Bree discovers she has a seventeen year old son in need of her help. Bree pays for her son's bail and the two relative strangers undertake a road-trip together.
8. Patrick "Kitten" Braden (Breakfast On Pluto)
From the description of this film - a young boy growing up in Northern Ireland in the 1970's against the backdrop of the troubles who would rather play dress-up in his sister's clothes than football - you would think it would be a pretty depressing "issues" film. That couldn't be further from the truth Kitten's sexuality is treated as a matter of fact rather than a problem. This leaves the film free to explore the sometimes colourful and sometimes dark events of his life. Cillian Murphy is fantastic in the role and it doesn't hurt that as a particularly pretty man he makes for a very attractive Kitten.
