HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 Adds Cate Blanchett and Djimon Hounsou

Two more join the voice cast.

During their Comic-Con panel this weekend, DreamWorks Animation announced that Cate Blanchett (‘Blue Jasmine,’ ‘The Hobbit’) and Djimon Hounsou (‘Seventh Son,’ ‘Blood Diamond’) are to lend their voices to the ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2.’

The thrilling second chapter of the epic ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ trilogy brings us back to the fantastical world of Hiccup (voice of Jay Baruchel) and Toothless five years after the two have successfully united dragons and Vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid (America Ferrera), Snoutlout (Jonah Hill) and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races (the island’s new favourite contact sport), the now inseparable pair journey through the skies, charting unmapped territories and exploring new worlds.

When one of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the centre of a battle to protect the peace.

Director Dean DeBlois revealed Hounsou is to play a maniacal dragon hunter named Drago Bludvist, with previously announced Kit Harington (‘Seventh Son,’ ‘Game of Thrones’) voicing Eret, a “self-declared world’s greatest dragon trapper.” Oscar-winning Blanchett co-stars as Valka, a feral recluse vigilante rescuing the dragons from their traps.

Additionally, DeBlois confirmed that composer John Powell is back to score the film, with Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi teaming up with Powell for three new compositions.

Set for release June 2014, the animated sequel also features the voices of Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T.J. Miller, and Kristen Wiig.
