Annette Bening to co-star.
Andy Garcia’s next directorial effort, ‘Hemingway & Fuentes,’ is finally moving forward with filming scheduled to kick off in January 2013.
The film will chronicle author Ernest Hemingway’s time in Cuba and his relationship with Gregorio Fuentes, the Cuban fishing-boat captain who inspired the author to pen his famous tale ‘The Old Man and the Sea.’
Anthony Hopkins will be playing Hemingway with Garcia (‘City Island’) in the role of Fuentes. Annette Bening is also on board, playing Hemingway’s third wife, Mary Welsh.
Garcia wrote the screenplay with Hilary Hemingway, the Nobel Prize-winning author’s niece.
