Long-in-development adaptation eye new director.

Renowned Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou (‘The Flowers of War,’ ‘Hero,’ ‘House of Flying Daggers House of Flying Daggers’) has reportedly entered into talks to take the helm of ‘Quasimodo,’ Warner Bros’ long-gesting adaptation of the Victor Hugo classic ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame.’

Wtih Josh Brolin (‘Oldboy,’ ‘Gangster Squad’) attached to star, the film tells the story of Quasimodo, a deformed and hunchbacked bell-ringer of the Norte Dame cathedral who tragically falls in love with beautiful gypsy named Esmerelda, who has been framed for murder.

The screenplay for the film comes from Kieran and Michele Mulroney (‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’).

First announced back in 2011, the project previously had Tim Burton lined up to direct.
