“He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” has landed itself a director.
Despite earlier reports that the film was dead in the water, it has been revealed that Kung Fu Panda director John Stevenson will be helming the project.
According to inside sources, Stevenson went to producer Joel Silver and gave an amazing presentation about how he would handle the material, and Silver offered him the job.
The script, written by Justin Marks, attempts to take the 1980s cartoon and recreate it with a sense of wonder and excitement, but taking a harder, more realistic tone at the same time.
Details of the plot remain unknown, but expect He-Man and the Masters of the Universe to involve He-Man and his allies taking on Skeletor and his minions as the skull-faced villain tries to steal the power hidden within Castle Greyskull.
