Helen Mirren Eyes DALTON TRUMBO Biopic With Bryan Cranston

Would play the wife of the Hollywood legend…

British actress Helen Mirren (‘The Hundred-Foot Journey,’ ‘Hitchcock,’ ‘Red 2,’ ‘The Queen’) is eyeing a role alongside ‘Breaking Bad’ star Bryan Cranston in the upcoming Dalton Trumbo biopic, according to reports.

With Jay Roach behind the camera, the film tells the life of the renowned American screenwriter and novelist, whose career come to a halt when he was blacklisted after he refused to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) in 1947 during the committee’s investigation of communist influences in the nation. He continued writing under pseudonyms, and even won two Academy Awards while blacklisted. After the blacklist effectively ended, he resumed his career under his own name.

Should Mirren commit to the project, she would be portraying Trumbo’s wife, Cleo Beth Fincher.

Michael London of Groundswell Productions is producing, along with Janice Williams and John McNamara, who is providing the script.
