Jake Gyllenhaal has reportedly entered negotiations to star in Denis Villeneuve’s “dark and edgy” indie thriller ‘An Enemy,’ and according to Variety the actor will be pulling double duty, taking the film’s two leads.
Based on the novel by José Saramago, the story revolves around a dysfunctional history teacher who accidentally discovers his exact double on a rented DVD, seeks him out and ends up turning both of their lives upside down.
The Javier Gullón-scripted thriller is expected to shoot before Villeneuve goes into production on the Hugh Jackman-headlined revenge thriller ’Prisoners.’
Gyllenhaal will next be seen starring in David Ayer’s crime thriller ‘End of Watch’ alongside Michael Peña, Anna Kendrick, and America Ferrera.
