Cruise in talks for reboot of the spy series.

Word has emerged, via Deadline, that ‘Jack Reacher’ and ‘Mission Impossible’ star Tom Cruise is lining up another potential franchise and entered into talks to headline the long-in-development big screen take of ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E.’

Running from 1964-68, the original series starred Robert Vaughn and David McCallum as Napolean Solo and Illya Kuryakin — agents with the United Network Command for Law Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E.). Using gadgets and their wits and charm, they fought the evil forces of T.H.R.U.S.H.

‘Sherlock Holmes’ director Guy Ritchie is behind the camera for the reboot, helming from a screenplay by Scott Z. Burns (‘Contagion,’ ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’).
