Guy Ritchie Talks Sherlock Holmes

Russell Crowe as Watson? Not according to Sherlock Holmes director Guy Ritchie.

Guy Ritchie has denied reports that Russell Crowe will star in his upcoming Sherlock Holmes flick.

Crowe was rumoured to play Dr. Watson in Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes film after shooting on his next project ‘Nottingham’ was postponed.

At the premiere of his latest gangster flick RocknRolla, Ritchie said

“I don’t have a Watson, Somebody just told me that I have Russell Crowe lined up but that’s news to me. I suspect that hasn’t happened and I’m still looking for my Watson.”

Commenting on the production of the pic, he added:

“I’m very happy about it. We’ve got what I’d like to think are some of the best locations in London and with this film I get to show a whole new side to London. I’ve done contemporary and now I won’t be doing that, obviously.”

Sherlock Holmes is expected to hit theatres in 2010.

Ritchie’s next film ‘RocknRolla’ is in Irish cinemas from Friday.
