Gudegast Helming Den of Thieves

Heist thriller gets its director…

Christian Gudegast has signed on to direct the bank heist drama ‘Den of Thieves’.

The story centres on a thief who’s planning a heist but gets trapped between two sets of criminals.

Gudegast wrote the screenplay with Paul Scheuring nearly a decade ago. The project was originally set up with Peter Berg attached to direct and Chris Bender and J.C. Spink producing. When a bigscreen version was deemed too pricey, Benderspink reimagined the project as a TV series and eventually brought writer-directors Glen Morgan and James Wong aboard. NBC made an initial commitment for its 2004-05 season, but the pilot never made it to air.

Mark Canton is producing ‘Den of Thieves’ alongside Relativity’s Ryan Kavanaugh and Tucker Tooley. Bender and Spink exec produce.

‘Den of Thieves’ is expected to start shooting this autumn.

EXTRAs: Gudegast and Scheuring previously penned the Vin Diesel starrer ‘A Man Apart.’ ‘Den of Thieves’ would mark the feature directing debut of Gudegast, a one time music-video director.
