GREEN ROOM Helmer to Direct DEFECTION

Jeremy Saulnier, the filmmaker behind ‘Murder Party,’ ‘Blue Ruin’ and the upcoming ‘Green Room,’ is set to direct the espionage thriller ‘Defection,’ according to the folks over at TheTrackingBoard.

An adaptation of Robert Littell’s 1973 novel ‘The Defection of A.J. Lewinter,’ the thriller tells the story of “Leo Diamond, a broken down CIA case officer who uses his calculated Cold War training to go after a mid-level CIA intelligence contractor who has defected to North Korea and has taken a mysterious suitcase with him.”

The project is set up over at 20th Century Fox with Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson producing. Ken Nolan (‘Black Hawk Down’) is providing the script.

Saulnier’s latest, the horror thriller ‘Green Room’ starring Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, and Patrick Stewart is released in Irish cinemas May 13, 2016.
