GEARS OF WAR Movie Lands Producer Scott Stuber

Producer to get project moving again.

Hollywood’s film adaptation of the third-person shooter video game franchise ‘Gears of War’ is back in development with Bluegrass Films founder and CEO Scott Stuber (‘Identity Thief,’ ‘Ted,’ ‘Battleship,’ ‘Safe House’) coming on board to produce.

‘Gears of War’ follows the soldiers of Delta Squad as they fight to save the human inhabitants of the fictional planet Sera from a relentless subterranean enemy known as The Locust Horde.

The first in the series was released in November 2006 and has since spawned three sequels, selling close nineteen million copies worldwide.

Stuber will develop a script for the adaptation with the franchise’s creator, Epic Games. No writer, talent or distributor is attached at this time.

The long-delayed adaptation was previously set up over at New Line with Len Wiseman directing from a screenplay by Stuart Beattie, but creative differences between the studio and Epic resulted in the project stalling.
