Gary Oldman Joins ROBOCOP Remake

Oldman joins remake for key role.

The always awesome Gary Oldman has signed on for a role opposite Joel Kinnaman (‘The Killing,’ ‘Safe House’) in the remake of ‘RoboCop.’

As previously reported Kinnaman is set to play Alex Murphy, a cop who is brutally murdered and subsequently brought back to life as the titular cyborg.

THR says that Oldman will be taking the role of “Norton, the scientist who creates Robocop and finds himself torn between the ideals of the machine trying to rediscover its humanity and the callous needs of a corporation.”

Brazilian director Jose Padilha (‘Elite Squad’) is attached to direct with production set to begin in September in Toronto.
