Gaimans HANSEL AND GRETEL Graphic Novel Headed to Cinemas

New reimagining of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm’s classic fairytale in the works…

British-American film producer Juliet Blake (‘The Hundred-Foot Journey,’ ”Farscape’) has reportedly acquired the rights to Neil Gaiman’s upcoming graphic novel ‘Hansel and Gretel’ with plans for a live-action feature.

Gaiman’s graphic novel reimagining of the classic Brothers Grimm fairytale hits bookshelves in October, and features illustrations by Italian comics and graphical artist Lorenzo Mattotti,

“For me, retelling Hansel and Gretel was a way of telling an old tale in a way that made it immediate and true, and about us, now,” Gaiman told Variety. “It reminds us of how paper thin civilization really is. It’s about hunger, and about families.”

Gaiman added, “I’m thrilled and delighted to be working with Juliet Blake to bring Hansel and Gretel to the world again, and to show people how much this story has to say to us.”
