Gabriel Byrne, Sarah Hyland, and More Attend VAMPIRE ACADEMY: BLOOD SISTERS

Adaptation fills outs supporting cast.

Irish actor Gabriel Byrne (‘Vikings,’ ‘The Usual Suspects’), Sarah Hyland (‘Modern Family’), Joely Richardson (‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’), Dominic Sherwood (‘Not Fade Away’), Sami Gayle (‘Blue Bloods’), Cameron Monaghan (‘Shameless’), Ashley Charles (‘White Buffalo’) and Claire Foy (‘Season of the Witch) have become the lastest addition to the ensemble cast of ‘Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters.’

Based on the best-selling young adult fantasy books by Richelle Mead, the story centres on Rose Hathaway (Zoey Deutch), a 17-year-old girl who has a mental and spiritual bond with her vampire best friend Lissa (played by Lucy Fry). The two girls attend a special school for vampires who struggle to retain some humanity while others of their species become more feral. Danila Kozlovski (‘We Are From The Future’) and Olga Kurylenko (‘Oblivion’) co-star.

Byrne will play Victor Dashkov, one of the leaders at the Academy while Hyland the role of his daughter Natalie, a friend of Rose and Lissa. Richardson will be playing Queen Tatiana, leader of the Moroi Vampires. Sherwood will take the role of Lissa’s love interest, Christian Ozera. Deadline adds that Gayle is set for the role of Mia Rinaldi, the nemesis in the books.

Filming on the adaptation is set to commence next week with Mark Waters (‘Mean Girls’) directing from a script by his brother, screenwriter Daniel Waters (‘Heathers’).
