Free THE BIRDCAGE screening, thanks to Why So Serious

Why So Serious? continue their Cult Comedy Classics screenings with THE BIRDCAGE…

Why So Serious Movie Reviews, one of Ireland’s most successful online movie review shows, is hosting the first in a series of screenings at the Grand Social, Dublin on Wednesday, August 28th. Doors are open at 7PM with a start time of 8PM, preceded by a short introduction.

‘Cult Comedy Classics’ is a season of some of the most underrated comedy films from the past thirty years. It is curated and presented by the Why So Serious team – RORY CASHIN (Entertainment.ie), BROGEN HAYES (Movies.ie), MARY BURKE (Brown Bag Films) and BRIAN LLOYD (Spin 103.8).

The second film to be screened as part of the series is 1996’s “THE BIRDCAGE”. Armand Goldman owns a popular drag nightclub in South Miami Beach. His longtime lover Albert stars there as Starina. “Their” son Val (actually Armand’s by his one heterosexual fling, twenty years before) comes home to announce his engagement to Barbara Keely, daughter of Kevin Keely, US Senator, and vice president of the Committee for Moral Order. The Senator and family descend upon South Beach to meet Val and his father and “mother…” and what ensues is comic chaos. (via IMDB.com)

The film will be screened at Grand Social, Dublin on Wednesday, August 28th at 8pm and is FREE OF CHARGE.
