Forest Whitaker Circles THE SHACK

Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker is reportedly in talks to take the directing reigns of a feature adaptation of William Paul Young’s 2007 Christian novel ‘The Shack.’

“In the aftermath of a devastating personal tragedy, Mackenzie Allen Philips receives a mysterious note in his mailbox inviting him to The Shack. The letter is signed Papa, his wife’s nickname for God. Mack responds and finds himself in the presence of God, and a life-transforming journey of truth, forgiveness, and ultimately acceptance.”

According to Deadline, Whitaker is also a eyeing a role in the film, which is being written by John Fusco (‘Hidalgo’).

Gill Netter and Brad Cummings are attached to produce, with Lionsgate Motion Picture president Michael Paseornek is overseeing development.
