Flight of the Conchords Star Bret McKenzie Joins THE HOBBIT

New Zealand actor signs for Peter Jackson’s two movie adaptation of the J.R.R. Tolkien novel.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that ‘Flight of the Conchords’ star Bret McKenzie has joined Peter Jackson’s adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit.’ The actor will play Lindir, an Elf of Rivendell.

New Zealand-born McKenzie made brief appearances as an extra in ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ and ‘The Return of the King’ in which he achieved fan fame on the Internet with the fan-created nickname “Figwit.”

‘The Hobbit’ is set 60 years before ‘Lord of the Rings’ and follows Bilbo Baggins’ epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. Production on the two movie adaptation commenced last month.
