Five Film Psychics Wed Like To Meet

To celebrate the release of HEREAFETR, Movies.ie looks at five of our favourite film psychics…

RIVER TAM – SERENITY

In typical Joss Whedon style, he brings us the waif-like River Tam, who despite being a mere 5ft nothing can still kick a man twice her size. Still for all her physical and psychic advantages, she does face some challenges, mainly she has a fair few screws loose up top.

COLE SEAR – THE SIXTH SENSE

“I see dead people” – the infamous words that helped to launch M. ANNIE – THE GIFT

Sam Raimi teams with the wonderful Cate Blanchett for this often overlooked tale of a widowed mother with psychic abilities enlisted to probe the murder of a wealthy country club girl (Katie Holmes). Our bet is on that TOM CRUISE DID IT!!!

ODA MAE BROWN – GHOST

IIt remains the ultimate otherworld romance – Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore as Sam and Molly, a loving New York City couple divided when Sam is killed during a mugging. As Molly grieves, Sam is caught in an in-between world and taps psychic con artist Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg in the role that earned her an Oscar) to communicate with Molly. Hilarity quickly ensues!

JOHNNY SMITH – THE DEAD ZONE

A near-fatal car crash puts him in a coma for five years, Johnny wakes to find psychic ability to see into the past and future of anyone he touches. While the layman might use these flash-forwards to find the perfect partner, Johnny saves the world from nuclear holocaust by, er, attempting to assassinate a Senator…
