First Look at Live-Action STAR WARS Series THE MANDALORIAN

Production is officially underway on the live-action ‘Star Wars’ TV show, and now the good folk over at Lucasfilm and Disney have released an official first look image and the list of directors that will take the helm for the series.

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”

Jon Favreau (‘Iron Man,’ ‘Chef’) will write and executive produce the series, with Dave Filoni (‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars,’ ‘Star Wars Rebels’) directing the first episode of the series. Additional episodes will be directed by Bryce Dallas Howard (‘Solemates,’ ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’), ‘Dope’ helmer Rick Famuyiwa, Deborah Chow (‘Jessica Jones’), and ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ director Taika Waititi,

Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson, Karen Gilchrist will co-executive produce.

The series is being developed for Disney’s as-yet untitled streaming service – set to launch in late 2019 –  along with standalone Marvel offshoots focused on Tom Hiddleston‘s antihero Loki and Elizabeth Olsen‘s Scarlet Witch. A live-action ‘Lady and the Tramp’ and ‘Monster’s Inc.’ related series are also being lined up for the service.
