Female-themed racing drama on the way…
Lionsgate and Odd Lot Entertainment (‘Ender’s Game,’‘The Way, Way Back,’‘Drive’) are teaming for ‘Spitfire,’ a fact-based biopic of NASCAR racing legend Louise Smith, often called “the first lady of racing,” reports Deadline.
Based on a pitch from actor/writer Grant Thompson, the film will tell of how Smith, the quintessential small-town girl with big dreams took the stock car racing scene of the 1950s by storm with her steadfast driving skills, changing the fate of racing forever.
Nicky Weinstock of Invention Films will produce, with NASCAR on board as executive producer.Lionsgate’s Meredith Milton and Odd Lot’s Rachel Shane will oversee development.
