Fincher Talks Fight Club Musical

‘Fight Club’ musical deemed ‘too expensive’

David Fincher has said that the proposed Broadway musical adaptation of his 1999 film Fight Club is looking increasingly unlikely.

The filmmaker told reporters that he has tried to recruit a high-profile director and producer for the project but has found the endeavour too costly.

He explained: “It’s too expensive. I really don’t know [if the musical will happen]. I’ve talked to [director] Julie Taymor and she sort of talked me down. I talked to [producer] Scott Rudin about it. I wanted to get him involved. He just laughed.”

Fincher said of his ideas for the stage version: “I saw it as being like a rock show – a lot of projection, a lot of computer-generated imagery, a lot of conveyor belts. It was really cinematic but really twisted.”
