Video Interview with Robert Pattinson for Twilight

Teen heartthrob Robert Pattinson chats about Twilight, which is out on DVD this weekend

From co-starring in Harry Potter as wizard to his very own franchise, things are certainly looking up for Britain's up-and-coming star Robert Pattinson.

But as the actor revealed to Movies.ie, pride almost got in the way of him taking the role of Edward Cullen, teen vampire, in the film version of Stephenie Meyer's hugely popular Twilight:

"I didn't realise it was going to be this big... I guess it was my own pride; I didn't want to be involved in a teen thing. I was just thinking: how can I not look like an idiot."

Fortunately Pattinson took on the role of brooding teen vamp and with box office earnings of over 130 million so far, nobody will be calling him an idiot anytime soon!

With Twilight descending on Ireland this weekend, Movies.ie spoke to the actor about the franchise, his character and his future plans for Hollywood:

Great interview; i went to see it this morning, ready to hate it; but overall - its just a good romance story; slow to start but once you get into it, enthralling. Bought a copy of new moon on the way home, wanna see where its going...

Monoke, I loved that the movie made you want to know what happened next, enough to go buy New Moon. That's what it is all about!! But then, I love a good love story...

*swoons* He was adorable as Cedric in Harry Potter and is quite dreamy as Edward.
He seems like a nice chap at any rate. Nice interview!

I never laughed so much. I went to it in ugc (screen 17). The room was divided between tweens and those who just enjoy a vamp flick (of which I include myself). When your man came on the screen, there was actual screaming/frenzy.

    Hilarious.

P.S. For me, it felt more like a romance than a vamp flick - I did like the tracker guy (James) - he worked as the villain- though he deserved a bit more screen time.

Here's the Twilight saga told by puppets, much better than the movie

Puppet Twilight - linkie, I can't see it?

  • 21/12/2008 21:10:02 · huntress

    I forgot the link, lol.

Here you go. Are you named after the Flight of the conchords song? :)

    He's sooooooo DREAMY!!

I'm a big vampire fan and ya know it was crap.... but hilarious and harmless.

One thing I don't get though is why it's so popular with teen girls because Bella as a heroine is awful!! She's a humourless, dour pain in the arse - not to mention a bit of a damsel in distress. Do girls these days want to be rescued?? What happened to the likes of Buffy eh???

They all fancy teh b0y in it.

Also, he *totally* blew that interview with his "kiss my ass" comment.

Great interview, i expected him to be a moody, too cool indie type, but he seems like a bit of a laugh, i saw an interview with him on "Ellen" and he was very funny, he is really laid back. The movie was good, i love the books, have made all my friends read them too, for anyone who is a fan of the books you should definatley read "the host" its a bit slower to "grab you" than twilight but its a really good read.

I was a bit annoyed at the movie ending though, How come edward didn't read victorias mind at the prom and realise she was there. It was stupid to add that in at the end.

The interviewer was funny too. I really liked the film, it should have been awful but actually it was pretty good. LOVe the puppet version, thanks for the link!

Robert Pattinson is a great actor ... has excited the new moon ... this saga is nothing without him!
