Top 5 X-Men Origins We'd Like To See

With the success of Wolverine this weekend, Movies.ie picks its five favourite X-Men characters worthy of their own origins tale.

Page: [1] 2 3 4 5

The figures are in and - in spite of pirating - Fox can breathe a sigh of relief with X-Men Origins: Wolverine taking in a massive 85 million dollars in its opening weekend. And with such a solid box office beginning the question is - where do we go from here? There are of course many directions the studio could head in, direct Wolverine sequel being the most obvious but given we here at Movies.ie are quite taken by the idea of Origins sequel. With that in mind, we count down our top five X-Men characters who deserve their own movie.

Storm

She's professor X's choice to lead the gold team (while Cyclop led the blue). She's been revered as a goddess, she's had her powers stripped away, she's been a petty thief, she's pretty much done it all. She's also got a ruthless side to her, one that's willing to kill -- a trait that not all superheroes possess. The downside to Storm Origins pic? Two words: Halle Berry.

Not being a Comic book fan I was gutted when they used Deadpool to be weapon XI, but an origins movie for him & agent Zero would be great, wise cracking all the way.

Would like to see a Cable or Bishop movie as love the whole time-travel thing.

I agree with the deadpool one. We need some good deadpool action after he was dephiled in that movie. Ryan Reynolds IS deadpool. Wouldn't mind seeing a bishop movie. =]

I'd love to see as many origins stories as possible. One for each character. They could be done like james bond where one film has nothing to do with the others.

And how about a decent Wolverine Origins story?

From the offices of 20th Century Fox,

    Dear Mr Roganjosh,

Thank you for you letter requesting a decent Wolverine movie. Now that we've suckered all the fans and their cash. We see no benefit in actually putting the time or care into a project that would make the audiences actually happy.

    Regards,

    Fox

    "With the success of Wolverine"

Were we watching the same film? :P

Agree with most of those, wouldnt be terribly interested in seeing a Storm one mind you, wouldn't mind if they did one for Morph, Nightcrawler, and of course the up coming magneto one :D

    Definatly need a Bishop movie

Nightcrawler was only in X-2, and barely got a mention in XMen3, could do with his own movie, although Alan Cumming said he just wasn't able to sit through the make up sessions again for it

Bishop or Deadpool, they would both rule. However, neither were in the original movies, so they are probably unlikely to get prequel movies :(

    Rogue anyone?

  • 05/05/2009 17:24:29 · lulalah

I'd love a Gambit one but I fear they've not done him justice in Wolverine. Boo!

Forget Wolverine, I want an X-Men Origins : Magneto movie, and do it before McKellan starts making The Hobbit!

A Bishop/Cable film would be excellent! Time travelling in the hopes to stop Apocalypse!

  • 05/05/2009 22:52:38 · enigmab17

Well if your that desperate for XMen Origins films, you might aswell go ahead and do a Jubilee one aswell :P

I don't think they'd need Ian McKellan for a Magneto origins story, is he not too old to play his younger self. He could bookend it perhaps.

Cant argue with that list but there's just so many good characters it could have been top 20 list
