Meryl Streep in talks for Russell Brand's remake of Arthur

Meryl Streep is in talks for Russell Brand's upcoming remake of Arthur.

Back in 2008, Brand revealed his plans to remake the 1981 comedy. Now the Daily Star is claiming Streep has expressed an interest in the project:

"When I met Russell recently, he said he was remaking Arthur with himself in the lead," a source said. "Apparently they're working on the script and adapting stuff to bring it up to date.

"He wants a woman to play Hobson, saying it would make the dynamics really interesting."

Peter Baynham, who won an Oscar for his work on Borat, has been announced as the writer of the movie.

I don't know, still think they should stop remaking/rebooting stuff. I have to admit the original is enjoyable enough Sunday afternoon type film, but does it really need a remake, I don't think so and I'm still not convinced that Brand is funny, I'm not a fan of his stand up. He had some funny lines in Forgetting Sarah Marshall but I'm not sure that was his input, as I don't recall him having a writing credit.

Brand already has quite an influence in Hollywood. I think this sounds quite good actually. I like Brand, and Streep is amazing.

Streep is quite the actress but Brand is a classic case of the Emperor having no clothes.
