Favreau concerned for Iron Man 2

Iron Man director concerned by studio date…

Jon Favreau has described the scheduled release date for Iron Man 2 as “unrealistic”.

The director is surprised by Marvel’s announcement that the superhero sequel will be released on April 30, 2010.

On his MySpace page, he wrote: “neither Robert [Downey Jr.] nor I were consulted about this and we are both concerned about how realistic the date is in light of the fact that we have no script, story or writers hired yet.”

Meanwhile Terrence Howard, who plays Col. James Rhodes (aka War Machine), has said filming will begin for the Iron Man sequel in March of 2009, which would be in line with Marvel’s schedule.

EXTRAs: Favreau was not the first director attached to the Iron Man franchise. In October 1999, Quentin Tarantino was approached to write and direct the film. Later, Joss Whedon was in negotiations to direct the film in June 2001. In December 2004, Nick Cassavetes was hired to helm with the film to be release in 2006, but everything fell through. Finally, Jon Favreau was hired.
