Emmerich Planning EMERGENCE

Filmmaker may direct the sci-fi feature.

Roland Emmerich’s production banner Centropolis Entertainment has acquired a sci-fi pitch titled ‘Emergence’ from screenwriter Nic Kelman with plans for the ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ helmer to direct, says Deadline.

A large scale contemporary sci-fi, the film has been described by the site’s sources a “new take on an alien invasion story containing hot-button science elements.”

Emmerich has a number of projects bubbling away at the moment which are more likely to come first, including a sequel to ‘Independence Day,’ and his mysterious sci-fi project, ‘Singularity.’

The German filmmaker’s latest offering, the action thriller ‘White House Down’ starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx and Maggie Gyllenhaal, is set to open in Irish cinemas September 6th.
