‘Mr Turner’ star Timothy Spall may take supporting role…

Actor-turned-filmmaker Dexter Fletcher is set to take the helm of ‘Eddie The Eagle,’ a biopic on the first British Olympic ski jumper to enter the Winter Olympics.

Taron Egerton, who will be seen starring alongside Colin Firth in ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service,’ will portray Olympian Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, with Hugh Jackman attached to play Chuck Berghorn, a ski expert from Lake Placid who helped the down-on-his-luck sportsman train for the 1988 Calgary Games.

Baz Bamigboye over at The Daily Mail was first to report the news, also revealing that Take That’s Gary Barlow will be writing songs for the film.

Timothy Spall, who is garnering critical acclaim for his role in ‘Mr Turner,’ is reportedly being eyed for the role of Eddie’s father.

Production is gearing up for a spring start with Matthew Vaughn producing.
