Dwayne Johnson To Lead BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA Remake June 2, 2015 Another classic to get the reboot treatment. Multiple outlets are reporting that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (‘San Andreas,’ ‘Fast and Furious 7’) is negotiations to headline a remake of the cult classic ‘Big Trouble in Little China.’ Directed by John Carpenter, the original film starred Kurt Russell as hard-boiled truck driver Jack Burton, who is dragged into a centuries-old mystical conflict within, and underneath, San Francisco’s Chinatown. Kim Cattrall, Dennis Dun, James Hong, and Victor Wong also starred. The project is set up over at 20th Century Fox with Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz on board to provide the script. Johnson and his producing partners Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia will produce the remake through their banner, 7 Bucks Entertainment. filmbuff2011 Another John Carpenter film that Hollywood has decided to remake… I’m not impressed. The track record hasn’t been great so far, has it Hollywood? Remakes of Halloween and Assault On Precinct 13 were allright. The Thing (2012) was less a prequel and more of a remake – but nowhere near as impressive as the original. The Fog (2005) was awful beyond belief. Thank God the remake of Escape From New York fell through. How about giving the great man himself a chance to make a new film? Joseph McCarthy I wasn’t interested in the remake until I heard the rock was going to be in it!
