Character-driven indie adds Hoffman and three more…

Dustin Hoffman, Steve Buscemi, former ‘Downton Abbey’ actor Dan Stevens and Method Man are set to round out the cast of writer/director Tom McCarthy’s next directorial effort, the Adam Sandler-starring indie comedy ‘The Cobbler.’

Currently in production in New York City, the character-driven comedy revolves around a shoe repairman (Sandler) blessed with the meta-physical ability to enter the lives of the people whose footwear he fixes. Further details are being kept under wraps.

McCarthy (‘Win Win,’ ‘The Visitor,’ ‘The Station Agent’) is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with actor-turned-screenwriter Paul Sado.
