Ensemble comedy enlists new helmer…

German filmmaker Christian Ditter (‘Vicky and the Treasure of the Gods,’ ‘The Crocodiles’) is reportedly in talks with New Line and actress/producer Drew Barrymore to take the helm of the ensemble romantic comedy ‘How to Be Single.’

Long in development, the project is based on Liz Tuccillo’s 2007 book and follows the loves, lives and break-ups of five single New York women over the course of ten years.

Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, who penned the film adaptation of Tuccillo’s ‘He’s Just Not That Into You,’ penned the adaptation with Dana Fox providing some finishing touches.

Barrymore, who was originally set to make the project her second directorial effort, will produce the adaptation with Flower Films partner Nancy Juvonen.

Ditter’s latest offering, an adaptation of Cecelia Ahern’s ‘Love, Rosie’ starring Lily Collins and Sam Claflin, arrives in Irish cinemas next year.
