Downey Jr Boards CAPTAIN AMERICA 3

Civil War storyline will kick off with Cap’s third film…

Marc Graser over at Variety is hearing that Robert Downey Jr. is close to putting pen to paper to play Tony Stark in ‘Captain America 3.’

According to the trade’s source, the plot for the star-spangled avenger’s third outing will follow Marvel’s Civil War storyline, pitting Stark against Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers/Captain America. The two feud over the Superhero Registration Act, which forces anyone with superhuman abilities to reveal their identities to the U.S. government and agree to act as a police force for the authorities.

While Stark supports the Registration Act, Rogers does not, saying it threatens civil liberties, causing sides to be taken and Rogers, Falcon, and others, to go on the run to avoid arrest.

Marvel recently announced plans to reboot the Civil War comic series next year, tweeting:

It looks like there is some truth to the recent rumours of Spider-Man making an appearance in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.

‘Captain America 3’ is pencilled in for a Summer 2016 release with ‘Captain America: The Winter Solider’ helmers Anthony and Joe Russo back behind the camera.
