Michael Douglas to star in Steven Soderbergh’s Liberace biopic

Michael Douglas is talks to play the late pianist Liberace in a new biopic.


Steven Soderbergh, who directed Douglas in ‘Traffic’, is in the early stages of developing the film.


The director is in discussions with Matt Damon about the role of Liberace’s partner, Scott Thorson, who sued the star for $113m in palimony in 1982; in 1986 he received $95,000.


Liberace died of AIDS-related complications in 1987, aged 67.
