Doug Liman Targets SPLINTER CELL Movie

Videogame adaptation moves forward with Liman…

Heat Vision is hearing that Doug Liman (‘The Bourne Identity,’ ‘Mr & Mrs Smith,’ ‘Jumper’) is in final negotiations to take the helm of ‘Splinter Cell,’ the big screen adaptation of Ubisoft’s award-winning stealth action series.

Tom Hardy (‘Mad Max: Fury Road,’ ‘Child 44,’ ‘Lawless’) is attached to lead the film, playing Sam Fisher, a highly-trained operative of “Third Echelon,” a fictional black-ops sub-division within the NSA.

Liman will be directing from a script by Eric Warren Singer (‘American Hustle,’ ‘The International’). An August start is on the cards, with release planned for summer 2015.

Producers include Basil Iwanyk of Thunder Road Pictures and Jean-Julien Baronnet of Ubisoft Motion Picture Group. Liman will also produce along with his partner, David Bartis.
