Doug Liman Circling NARCO SUB

Filmmaker in early talks for thriller…

Doug Liman, the director behind ‘The Bourne Identity,’ ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ and ‘Go,’ is said to be in talks with 20th Century Fox to lens ‘Narco Sub,’ an action-thriller that was originally set up as a directing vehicle for Tony Scott before his death in 2012.

The David Guggenheim-scripted thriller is set in the dangerous world of drug trafficking and takes its name from semi-submersible crafts that South American drug cartels use to smuggle cocaine into the U.S.

Simon Kinberg of Genre Films is attached to produce with Elishia Holmes and Michael Schaefer of Scott Free co-producing. 20th Century Fox executive Steve Asbell will oversee development for the studio.

Liman’s next, the sci-fi actioner ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, arrives in cinemas May 2014.
