DIVERGENT Adaptation Fills Out Seven More Roles

Seven more board Neil Burger-directed adaptation as production begins.

Ashley Judd (‘Olympus Has Fallen,’ ‘Flypaper’), Ray Stevenson (‘Thor: The Dark World,’ ‘GI. Joe: Retaliation’), Mekhi Phifer (‘Dawn of the Dead,’ ‘ER’), Tony Goldwyn (‘The Mechanic,’ ‘American Gun’), Ben Lloyd-Hughes (‘Great Expectations’), Ben Lamb (‘The White Queen’) and Christian Madsen (‘Palo Alto’) have been announced as the latest additions to the big screen adaptation of author Veronica Roth’s bestselling young adult novel, ‘Divergent.’

Kicking off principal photography with Neil Burger directing and Shailene Woodley (‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2,’ ‘The Descendants’) and Theo James (‘Golden Boy,’ ‘Underworld: Awakening’) leading, ‘Divergent’ is a futuristic action adventure set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities, Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late.

Other confirmed cast members include Kate Winslet (‘Contagion’), Jai Courtney (‘A Good Day to Die Hard’), Zoë Kravitz (X-Men: First Class), Maggie Q (‘Nikita’), Ansel Elgort (‘Carrie’) and Amy Newbold.

‘Divergent’ is being produced by Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher via their Red Wagon Entertainment banner along with Pouya Shahbazian. Red Wagon’s Rachel Shane is executive producing.
