Dev Patel

Long-in-development film will shoot next month…

Variety hears that Dev Patel (‘Slumdog Millionaire’) is set to play the lead in ‘The Man Who Knew Infinity,’ with Jeremy Irons (‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’) and Devika Bhise (‘The Accidental Husband’) co-starring.

The film, in development for the last eight years, sees Patel playing math genius Srinivasa Ramanujan and Irons portraying G.H. Hardy, who recognized Ramanujan’s brilliance despite the latter’s lack of formal training and education and plucked him from obscurity in Edwardian India. Bhise will portray Ramanujan’s wife.

Writer-director Matthew Brown is behind the camera, with the script based on Robert Kanigel’s biography ‘The Man Who Knew Infinity: A Life of the Genius Ramanujan.’

Principal photography kicks off next month with filming to take place in the U.K and various locations in South India.
