Washington eyeing killer role.
Deadline’s Mike Fleming is hearing word that Denzel Washington is in early talks to headline the sci-fi thriller ‘Shovel Ready.’
Set in a bombed-out, near future New York City and follows a garbageman-turned-contract killer who is hired to kill the daughter of a powerful, maniacal evangelist. However, the assassin opts of the contract and ultimately becomes the girl’s protector.
The project is based on journalist Adam Sternbergh’s forthcoming debut novel of the same name.
