Jason Statham on board for sequel…
German filmmaker Dennis Gansel (‘The Wave,’ ‘We Are the Night,’ ‘Before the Fall’) has reportedly entered into talks with Nu Image and Millennium Films to take the helm of ‘The Mechanic 2.’
As the title suggests, the film is a sequel to the 2011 action thriller that starred Jason Statham as Arthur Bishop, an elite assassin with a strict code and unique talent for cleanly eliminating targets. Statham will return to reprise his role as Bishop.
The first film, directed by Simon West, was a remake of Michael Winner’s 1972 film of the same name starring Charles Bronson and Jan-Michael Vincent.
