Del Toro Producing Feature Adaptation of Animated Short ALMA

Hit animated short gets big screen adaptation.

The LA Times is reporting that Guillermo del Toro is to reteam with DreamWorks Animation to produce a feature adaptation of Rodrigo Blaas’ hit animated short ‘Alma.’

Blaas, a former Pixar animator, will direct the feature which tells the story of a young girl who becomes intrigued by the contents of a mysterious toy shop.

‘Sunshine Cleaning’ scribe Megan Holley will provide the screenplay while del Toro will offer guidance similar to the kind he offered on Dreamworks Animations’ ‘Puss in Boots.’
