DC’s SHAZAM! Movie Eyes LIGHTS OUT Director

Swedish filmmaker David F. Sandberg (‘Annabelle 2,’ ‘Lights Out’) is, per TheWrap, in talks with Warner Bros. to direct the DC Comics adaptation ‘Shazam!’

Created by artist C. C. Beck and writer Bill Parker, the comic centres on teenaged Billy Batson, who, by speaking the magic word “Shazam!,” can transform himself into an adult superhero empowered with the abilities of six mythological gods.

The big screen outing of ‘Shazam!’ has long been in the works with Dwayne Johnson in the role of Shazam’s nemesis Black Adam, and recently it was revealed that Johnson will reprise the anti-hero role for his own spin-off. Both films are set to be part of the DC Extended Universe.

SHAZAM! is pencilled in for an April 2019 release.
