Helmer being eyed to tackle young adult adaptation
Heat Vision is reporting that David Slade (‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,’ ’30 Days of Night’) has become Disney’s top choice to take directing duties on the futuristic love story, ‘Matched.’
Based on Ally Condie’s 2010 young adult novel of the same name, the story is set in a future society where people are told what to read, what to watch, what to believe and who to love. At the centre of the tale is Cassia Reyes, a young woman who rejects an arranged romance and chooses her own path.
The adaptation was penned by Michelle and Kieran Mulroney (‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’). Condie’s ‘Matched’ is the first in a trilogy; the second book, ‘Crossed,’ is out now, while the third book, ‘Reached,’ will arrive on book shelves in November.
