Winfrey may return to acting for indie biopic.
‘Precious’ director Lee Daniels’ is reportedly looking to cast ‘Red Tails’ and ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ actor David Oyelowo for his Eugene Allen biopic ‘The Butler.’
The film will explore the life of Allen, a black man who worked as butler in the White House, serving eight presidents from 1952 to 1986.
According to THR, Oprah Winfrey, who hasn’t starred in a live-action feature since 1998’s ‘Beloved,’ has been offered the role of Allen’s wife, Helene. Winfrey is believed to be strongly considering a return to acting for the part.
Other names in the mix to portray real-life figures include, Hugh Jackman, Mila Kunis and John Cusack. Insiders say that Kunis is up for the role of Jackie Kennedy, while Cusack would be playing Richard Nixon.
