Iraq war novel headed to the big screen.
‘Ain’t Them Bodies Saints’ filmmaker David Lowery has closed a deal to take writing and directing duties for an adaptation of author Kevin Powers’ 2012 bestseller ‘The Yellow Birds.’
‘The Yellow Birds’ tells the harrowing story of two young American soldiers, twenty-one-year old Private Bartle and eighteen-year-old Private Murphy, who make a profound promise to each other while serving in Iraq.
Jeffrey Sharp and Jim Kohlberg will produce the adaptation through their newly formed production banner, Story Mining & Supply Co.
Lowery’s outlaw drama ‘Ain’t Them Bodies Saints,’ starring Casey Affleck, Rooney Mara, and Ben Foster, is currently playing in cinemas around the country.
