David Fincher Options The Goon

Eric Powell’s twisted comic ‘The Goon’ is being optioned for film with David Fincher attached to direct.


The director behind ‘Se7en’, ‘TheGame’, ‘Fight Club’, ‘Panic Room’ and ‘Zodiac’ has optioned the comic to be adapted into a CG based animated feature.


‘The Goon’ follows the adventures of the Goon, a hard-edged brawler who claims to be an enforcer for Labrazio, a tough Mobster. Despite being rooted in hard-broiled fiction, the Goon’s adventures frequently take a turn to the paranormal, with stories concerning ghosts, ghouls, aliens, mad scientists and other creatures right out of the works of H.P. Lovecraft being the norm.


EXTRAs: This is not the first comic that Fincher has acquired the rights to. Fincher also has the rights to Marc Andreyko and Brian Michael Bendis’ graphic novel ‘Torso’, with Jake Gyllenhaal attached to the lead role. Additionally, he has been connected to the French graphic novel The Killer and Charles Burns’ comic ‘Black Hole’.
