Darren Aronofsky is in demand since departing ‘The Wolverine.’ It was only a week ago we were reporting that the director was set to take the director’s chair for a sci-fi film titled ‘Human Nature’ with George Clooney attached to star. Now, according to Badass Digest, the director is being eyed for more projects.
According to the site, Disney is reportedly looking for the ‘Black Swan’ director to fill the boots left by Tim Burton on ‘Maleficent,’ the studio’s live-action re-imagining of ‘Sleeping Beauty.’ The movie is a new take on the classic fairy tale, retold from the point of view of the wicked fairy godmother Maleficent. Angelina Jolie would play the self-proclaimed “Mistress of All Evil.” ‘Harry Potter’ director David Yates was recently revealed to be in consideration for the project.
Badass Digest’s sources also claim that Aronofsky is being courted by Warner Bros. for their Moses movie, one of two Moses project on the boil in Hollywood. The WB project has the backing of ‘Sherlock Holmes’ producer Dan Lin and will focus on the Exodus, when Moses tries lead the Israelites out of Egypt only to find themselves lost in the desert.
It shall be interesting to see what project Aronofsky takes for his next. He may choose to pass on all three and decide to move ahead with his own creation, he may even return to his planned Noah’s Ark project, a project which was described as an unconventional “biblical epic.” We will have to wait and see.
