Darabont No Longer Directing THE HUNTSMAN

Emily Blunt in talks to play the big bad…

Director Frank Darabont (‘The Walking Dead,’ ‘The Shawshank Redemption’) has dropped out of directing Universal’s sequel to the 2012 fantasy tale ‘Snow White and the Huntsman.’

According to Deadline, Darabont’s exit is due to creative differences; however, their split was reportedly on amicable terms. Universal have reportedly set their sights on a replacement.

The sequel finds Chris Hemsworth’s titular Huntsman tasked with finding the magic mirror, a quest that sees him facing not only his past but also the evil Snow Queen who is set on avenging her sister, Queen Ravenna (played by Charlize Theron).

‘Into The Woods’ star Emily Blunt is talks to play the Snow Queen, with Theron expected to return as Ravenna.

Universal is staying on track for the film’s Summer 2016, and is expected to announce Darabont’s replacement in the coming weeks.
