Craig Brewer in Talks for THE IDOLMAKER

Music drama eyes new director…

‘Hustle & Flow’ and ‘Black Snake Moan’ writer/director Craig Brewer has reportedly entered into talks to direct a remake of Taylor Hackford’s 1980 drama ‘The Idolmaker.’

The original film starred Ray Sharkey as Vincent Vacarri, a mercenary music promoter who takes on two boys with the intent of turning them into teen idols. The film was based on the life of rock promoter/producer Bob Marcucci, who discovered, among others, Frankie Avalon and Fabian.

Justin Timberlake is on board to produce the project alongside Hawk Koch and Gene Kirkwood, who served as producers on Hackford’s film.
